This form is for the jobs that can wait until morning: a musty basement, a slow leak that soaked the drywall, a fire that is out and the house is boarded. Marek or Ewa reads it and calls you back within one business hour, 7am to 7pm, or first thing the next morning.

Non-emergency visits are booked for the same week. You get a written scope by email before any work starts, and the number on the paper is the number you pay.

Marek's shop on Fullerton Avenue, since 2011.

Marek ran drying crews for a franchise out of Elk Grove Village for nine years before he started Salt Creek Restoration in 2011, named for the creek that runs under Lake Street a few blocks from the shop. Eleven people work here: two mitigation crews, three carpenters for the rebuild side, and Ewa, who runs the office and most of the daytime phone.

Marek still takes the night phone himself two nights a week, and he walks every fire job before a crew goes in. If the house is not safe to enter, he says so and tells you who to call first.

I would rather tell you at 2am that the suburb you are in is ninety minutes away than tell you sixty and show up at ninety.

What happens when you call.

  1. You call. A person answers.

Usually at your door within 60 minutes

Day or night, (630) 555-0144 rings a Salt Creek phone, not an answering service. We ask what is wet or burned, whether the water is off and the power is safe, and we tell you what to do in the next ten minutes.

Inside Addison, Elmhurst, Villa Park, Lombard, Wood Dale, Bensenville and Itasca, a crew is usually at your door within 60 minutes when one is free. Farther out, or on a storm night when every pump in DuPage is running, we tell you the real time on the call.

  2. We stop the damage. That is mitigation.

Standing water pumped and extracted, wet carpet pad out, walls opened where the meter says they are wet, air movers and dehumidifiers running before we leave the first visit. After a fire, board-up and a first pass on the soot so it stops etching the surfaces.

Everything is photographed before it moves. Moisture readings are taken room by room and mapped on day one, and you have the written scope in your email before the first wall comes down.

  3. We dry, verify and rebuild. That is restoration.

Readings every day until the meter, not a guess, says the structure is dry. Mold or sewage gets remediation under plastic containment with HEPA air scrubbers, then a third-party test before the containment comes down.

Then our own carpenters put the house back: drywall, trim, paint, floors, cabinets. We walk the finished rooms with you before we call it done.

Living room opened to the studs after a flood, wet drywall and insulation removed, ceiling fan still in place
Villa Park, day two of a water job. Wet drywall and insulation out to the studs, floor drying under air movers.

Three jobs this year, in the homeowners' words.

The sump pump quit during the April storm and we had four inches across the finished basement at 2am. Marek picked up on the second ring, the truck was in the driveway in about fifty minutes, and by breakfast the water was out and the dryers were running. They took readings every day for five days and showed me the numbers.

Grease fire in the kitchen, out before the fire department left, but the smoke was through the whole first floor. Salt Creek got the smell out of the house, not covered up, and the kitchen was rebuilt by the same carpenters who did the tear-out. One company from the first night to the last coat of paint.

We found mold behind the bathroom vanity after a slow leak. They put the room under plastic with a HEPA machine running, cut out the bad drywall, and had an outside company test the air before they took the plastic down. Nobody tried to scare us into a bigger job.

Water, fire, mold, sewage, storm, contents, rebuild. One crew, one scope.

Ask about one of these
Flooded basement seen through the open cellar door, brown water across the floor
Wood Dale, cellar stairs after a July storm. Pumped and extracted the same night.
Burned living room with charred furniture and soot-blackened walls before cleanup
Itasca, front room after an electrical fire. Contents out, soot cleaning, then rebuild.
Black mold along a window sill, baseboard and carpet corner
Lombard, window corner. Remediation under containment, clearance test on day four.
  • Water damage restoration

Burst pipes, sump pump failures, washer hoses, ice dams, a toilet supply line that let go while you were at work. Extraction, drying with daily readings, then the repairs.

  • Fire and smoke damage restoration

Board-up the first night, soot and smoke cleaning, odour removal with thermal fogging and ozone while the house is empty, then the rebuild by our carpenters.

  • Mold remediation

Plastic containment, HEPA air scrubbers, removal of the affected drywall and insulation, third-party clearance testing. IICRC AMRT certified technicians.

  • Sewage cleanup

Category 3 water. Everything porous it touched comes out, hard surfaces are disinfected, and the room is dried down before anything goes back.

  • Storm damage

Emergency roof tarping and board-up, wind-driven water in attics and walls, a tree through the roof. Illinois Roofing Contractor License 104.000000 (demo number).

  • Contents

Pack-out to our warehouse in Addison, inventoried with photos, cleaned and stored until the rooms are ready for them.

  • Rebuild

Drywall, trim, paint, flooring and cabinets by the three carpenters on our own payroll, under the same written scope as the drying.

Your insurance paperwork. What we do, and what we do not.

We photograph and document the damage, take moisture readings and map them, write an itemized Xactimate estimate, and give your insurer the records it asks for. We can meet your adjuster on site to walk the damage and explain our scope. Coverage decisions and the claim settlement stay between you and your insurer. We are not public adjusters. Your deductible is your responsibility and cannot be waived.

The shop is on Fullerton Avenue in Addison. Every town below is a fifteen-minute drive at 2am with nothing on the roads, which is why the 60-minute line holds here and we quote the real time anywhere else.

  • Elmhurst Finished basements and 1920s foundations, our most common night call.
  • Villa Park Ten minutes down Villa Avenue.
  • Lombard Roosevelt Road to North Avenue.
  • Wood Dale Low lots near the creek, sump pumps that run all spring.
  • Bensenville Irving Park Road to the airport fence.
  • Itasca Up Rohlwing Road, the north end of the 60-minute line.

Outside these towns, call anyway. We will tell you honestly whether we are the closest crew or whether someone else will get to you faster.
